We were sitting next to the loudest drunkest people in the restaurant. Very foul mouthed and inconsiderate. I asked the waiter to move us he said he could not do that. I then asked him to speak to the people; again he said WE can not do that. The food was cold on arrival. I guess if you are loud and vulgar this is the place to go. I came from AZ ...

Very disappointing....Went last saturday night (5/30). Had 6 pm reservations and arrived right at 6. We were rushed to the far back corner of the upstairs dining room and offered a cramped 2 top crowed in the corner right next to another 4 top with 2 people at it. We were the oly people in the area and there were only a couple of tables seated ...

WARNING: G&G'S CANNOT COOK A STEAK!
11/08
My wife and I were in Chicago last weekend and, at the suggestion of my brother, who lives on the North Shore, decided to make Gene & Georgetti's our special Saturday night meal.
I've eaten at many steakhouses in the country (e.g., Peter Luger, Mastro's, Ruth's Chris, ...

I loved this place. The ppl were great and the food was supurb! My prime rib melted in my mouth. We had a great time there and everyone was treated like family. True Italian style.

I would never eat at Gene & Georgetti's again. It was a nice and cozy atmosphere but the food was horrible. I had the swordfish and it was very blan. I thought it would be served over some rice or something, it came with a salad that was a bunch of iceburg lettuce with dressing and one huge chunk of tomato wedge. With the prices they charge I was really disappointed.
Horrible ambiance. A grouchy old waiter who forgets that Ice is essential in a drink. Very hard to get his attention. When you do, he grumbles. Perhaps he thinks this adds flavour to the experience. I don't think so.
For some reason we were seated upstairs which sort of reminded me of a room you'd have over your garage, for the guests ...

Very Dissappointing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/06
$40 to $50 per steak that your mother can cook using a George Forman! Totally unworthy of being considered a Chicago Steak House! Kinzie Chophouse was a much better experience and lower cost.
The ambiance is awesome...you half expect Capone and Co to come rolling in, guns blazing. The paneling/stairs/different rooms give it a cool feel, but I typically grade a steak house on the steak. And while they serve a nice piece of meat, it was just bland. Really, in terms of steaks, I could easily rattle off 20 places I would rather eat.

Best Filet ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/06
Absolutely the best Filet Mignon ever. For them to bring out this 12+ ounce filet and give you a butter knife and it's so expertly prepared. For 40 $ a person roughly you just cannot find better.
