The Sugar Bowl restaurant captures an essence that is missing from today's dining expereince. The courteous and professional staff, headed by Tony and a waitressing crew anchored by Lori are far and above anything a chain has to offer. I have regularly dined here for the last ten years and would recommend it to anyone. The prices are ...

There are some really interesting photos in the entryway documenting Gaylord's history as well as showing the restaurant's evolution. However, once you're inside and looking at the menu get ready to be disappointed. This place is essentially a wildly overpriced Coney Island with a smattering of German foods like schpatzle thrown on the ...

This is my second year working at the Sugar Bowl. This is by far the best restaurant in this area. All of our food is homemade. NOT FROM GORDON FOODS! Mr. Doumas and his staff work very hard to please the customers. Before me my grandmother worked at the Sugar Bowl for about fifety years if not more. We have people come in from all over the world. So if you happen to be passing by Gaylord MI i recommend that you stop in!

We stopped here a few months ago. The food seemed overprice and Gordon Food Service quality with a dash of parsley. Plus after friends from the area claimed the Sugar Bowl was treating hired (legal???)Jamaican staff poorly, I will definitly not be going back.

My family loved the restaurant! love the history been open for 90years all in the same family. Some employees have been here 39 years. Mr. Doumas must be doing something right! Food is better then Applebees! Home-made food, just like home!

I had been a cook in the summer of 79, and enjoyed the time I worked there. They were very professional, high quality food, and excellent atmosphere. i have eaten there a few times over the years, and always injoyed it. I have chefed in Cheboygan,Mackinaw City,Indian River, and Iron Mountain, and rate the sugar bowel as the standard to be met.
Verry!!!! Great Food & Service they will go out of their way to treat you like one of the family THANK YOU SUGAR BOWL & STAFF!!!!!!

i had been a cook at the sugar bowl for several years and i must say that mr. doumas does not appreciate people that have worked hard for him over the years. he takes newer people and promotes them in first, instead of giving to the person that deserves it. i would suggest to mr. doumas that he take better care of his senior employes before he loses more of them. as far as the food goes make sure you bring lots of money to pay for it!
