Not sure what restaurant you patronized, but it must not been the Toast. The place has been there for years, always busy, and yes they have a "no smoking" room. The waitresses are usually friendly and the place is always clean.

Save your money and stay home! We went there for breakfast one weekend morning and it took three days to get the smoke smell out of our clothes, hair and car!
