I have stayed at the Sandspur for years now and have had nothing but positive experiences while there. The staff is friendly and accommodating- in fact, on more than one occasion, they went out of their way to make sure that my family and I were having a good time while down.

Staying at the Sandspur will ruin your vacation. I have never met more awful, horrible, angry, people (SUSAN). They screamed at us like we were children being scolded because we didnt close the door quick enough when the ac was on, because they thought we tracked sand into the room and because we parked in the wrong spot (and I mean SCREAMED) ...

THE OWNERS ARE RUDE AND ACT LIKE THEY ARE BEING PUT OUT. THERE WERE BUGS AND MICE IN THE COTTAGES. WHEN WE ARRIVED THE COTTAGE WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE. I HAVE ALLERGIES SO I TURNED ON THE AC AND OPENED THE DOOR TO LET SOME FRESH AIR IN. THE OWNER SCREAMED AT ME THAT THIS WAS NOT ALLOWED. I WILL NEVER RETURN.

WE HAD BEEN COMING FOR YEARS BUT NEVER AGAIN. THEY TREAT YOU LIKE THEY ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR. VERY RUDE. 2008 WE SAW TWO MICE AND SEVERAL BUGS IN THE COTTAGES. MY EXTENDED FAMILY STAYED IN SEVERAL AND THEY SAW THE SAME. THE COTTAGE SMELLED OF SMOKE AND MOLD. MY FAMILY WILL NEVER GO AGAIN.

Stayed the weekend at the Sandspur. Loved it. Reminded me of how the outer banks used to be about personal and friendly service before all the large corporations came in and took over the beach. Owner is very rude. Disgusting attitude. Called for information and she was more worried about how much the charge on her 800 number was than providing information on her rates. I wouldn't stay there if it were free.
