Average. I went there based on the reviews I have read here. I am not an expert on Indian food, but I have been to enough around the country. I would like to find 1 very good Indian restaurant in Cincinnati.

I have eaten at Indian Restaurants around the world. My favorite Indian restaurants are in Singapore but Ambar is every bit as good. Their Lamb Vindaloo is the best I have ever had. It is creamy, tangy, and leaves a pleasant after taste long after the meal is over. Their other menu items are good as well but it is Vindaloo that I use as my baseline to rate Indian Restaurants and their Vindaloo is 5 star.

The service at this place is amazing! Another customer dumped an entire glass of water into my chicken curry, thereby ruining it, and just walked away. The servers at Ambar not only moved us to a new table, they replaced all our food--even the food that wasn't affected! The restaurant was super busy at the time, but they went above and beyond to remedy a situation that wasn't even their fault.

This is the forth time we ate in Ambar and each time we felt like quality of food, aroma and freshness is gone down compared to last time. They are not keeping up the marks.

We have been eating Ambar or one of its satellites once a week for over 10 years. The food is excellent, the prices reasonable, the ambience negligible, the hygiene occasionally questionable & the service almost always rude. It's gotten to be a family joke the way we are never recognized. Why do we go back?- The food is quite good. If you visit ...

I don't really understand all of the recent complaints, and I also don't understand why folks in Cincinnati generally rank Ambar above all of the other Indian restaurants in town.
Ambar serves roughly the same menu most of the other Indian places in town do, has a similar atmosphere, and their food is roughly of the same quality, which ...

This restaurant is way overpriced for what you get. Even worse, the servers are extremely rude and arrogant. I will never return to this restaurant again. The service is awful given the amount of servers just standing around staring and talking about you and the food is not that great for what you are paying. Apna India across the street has great service and good food.

Used to be great, but the cook or something changed. We've went there for almost 5 yrs now. Last time we went there is was horrible. The curry chicken should be renamed way to salty chicken curry. Oh course, the waitress asked how everything tasted and I said it was horrible. Gave me a deer in headlights look and walked away, nice huh.
