I was disappointed that the only entrees on the buffet were sausage and meatloaf. I was expecting a larger selection of German food. The salad bar was very small and the only desert I noticed was a jello/fruit salad. The bahama mamas weren't spicy at all. We paid extra for creme puffs and chocolate pie and they were very good and the (small) buffet was very good as well; but a little pricey.

A true Columbus Gem. The food is outstanding. The service is very freindly and attentive. The restaurant itself could stand to be updated, but this is asthetically speaking only. I highly recommend Schmidts to anyone looking for good German food.

I have lived in Columbus for over 10 years and never had eatin at Schmidts until Saturday April 5th 2008, now I understand why, I was very disappointed with the food, highly over priced buffet and very poor service, I don't beleive I will ever patronize the establishment again

We were disappointed to find out that the food served at Schmidt's is not made on-site. A "commissary" prepares the sausages and even the sides (german potato salad, roasted red cabbage, sauerkraut, etc.) off-site. It's always a disapointing to us when a "local legend" doesn't prepare their own food anymore.

My friend and I live in Dayton and whenever we go to Columbusits automaticly a Schmidts Event... because there is just no better place to visit while in German Village. The food is superb, the Meat Loaf is a food group all its own. The service is friendly and fast.. i just wish the place was bigger! I love the buffet - its all you can eat and you wont find a better selection!

I have gone to Schmidt's for years and it is definitely an awesome restaurant. You walk in to a wonderful atmosphere with pleasant people working there. You can see what the desserts look like when you walk in ready to eat. And of course they do taste better than they look ! I love their sausages, but their buffet is awesome. You can try a ...

I've been going to Schmidt's for years. I've tried many different items from their menu and have found them all to be very tasty. The Weinersnitzel has a tendency to be inconsistant, tho, as sometimes it melts in your mouth and other times it's pretty tough. Love the cream puffs and the warm apple strudle w/vanilla ice cream is to ...
