The only qualifier I have to place is that this place has the best DRY RIBS in town. The wet ribs are ok .... which in any other town would be outstanding. But the dry ribs are really something special....even if your not a fan of dry... give them a shot. They are amazing.

I've known Frank and his son Eric for years. I have lived in Memphis my whole life (54 years) and I have eaten at practically every BBQ joint in town. I have come to the conclusion that most every place in Memphis can cook ribs and pork. What sets The BBQ shop above all the rest is the sauce. Dancing Pigs BBQ sauce is, with out a doubt, the ...

Great food at a reasonable price. I've known the owner and his family for several years. What I like about it the most is that the employees are always smiling.

My husband really likes the place because they have the best if only rib tips in town! The sauce is great and good service too.

The BBQ shop is probably the least known top BBQ restaurant. I remeber when it was Brady &B Lils on South parkway and later in Parkway Village on Perkins.
If you have time for only one place to go to, go where the locals go, The BBQ Shop

Far and away the best barbeque in a city that knows what barbeque is all about. The richest sauce, the stickiest ribs, the most fragrant sandwiches- eating anything else is mere folly. The only trouble with eating here is that everywhere else will be a disappointment by comparison. You might not want that on your conscience.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/07
In a city that hosts an International Barbecue Fest, you've got to serve something that 'brings 'em back.' For me, at The Bar-B-Q Shop, that would be the pulled pork sand which on garlic toast. Count on crowds at lunch and on weekends for dinner. Some of the best and most tender pork, coupled with a savory sauce, that Adam would've given up Eve for-try the ribs, too.
I have been to just about all of the que spots in Memphis, and I live here, so I think I can have a little say in this. Rendevouz, Corky's, Interstate, Neely's, Leonard's, Tops, Whole Hog, Central, Blues City, Commisary... I have been to all of them (Cozy Corner and Paynes are my next stops). The BBQ Shop has the best most consistent ...
