When I was a senior at Phillips High School, we would catch the bus in front of Pete's. The hotdogs were ridiculously good. I am in Michigan now, but I visit Pete's whenever I am home.

My wife and I drove down from Huntsville to check Pete's out and to visit Oak Mountain State Park. We both must admit that we were surprised when we arrived there. There is barely enough room to slide through the door when there are more than a couple customers present. There is no place to sit down. You order your meal and eat it and, when you ...

I travel the U.S. I have never eaten a better hot dog. My father took me to Pete's in 1952. Gus is one more character and God Bless Kathy.

Yes, it's a hole-in-the-wall. Yes, it's crowded. Yes, they're the best dogs you'll ever wrap your gums around.
Pete's might be a little inconvenient if you don't have business downtown, but heck--what's a little inconvenience for the best hotdog ever??? This isn't a place to take somebody you want to impress, unless they're impressed by great hotdogs

I worked in Bham for years, southside, we picked up lunch in a stretch limo. Pete's Famous was on the menu at least weekly. They are absolutely heavenly! You cannot get a better hot dog anywhere!!!!

Nothing fancy, nowhere to sit, and barely room to stand. However, this is truly one of those places you will remember forever. Gus will keep the dogs coming for as long as you want. Great with a pint of cold milk!!! Just walk in and say "all the way and a pint", and enjoy the news clippings on the walls and the chatter and banter from both sides of the counter. This is a must visit!

Famous and truly amazing! The last day we were in Birmingham, I dragged two unwilling but hungry co-workers to Pete's. The walk was only 15 minutes from the Sheraton, but well worth it. We all agreed the dogs were great. I had a chili-cheese dog (actually three!) and wanted more. They are not big, but very, very tasty. The dogs are thin ...

These are by far the best Hot dogs I have ever had. My husband and I eat there everytime were are in Birmingham, and he dosnt even like hot dogs if that tells you how good they are. We get us a tray of about a dozen and eat them untill we are about to pop. This is definatly worth the stop folks. A neat historic little stop and some neat folks behind the counter.
