My wife and I found this place just walking around (Marietta St) and it has to be one of the best breakfast joints in the area. Great place to go first thing in the morning. They have a nice selection of food (more then just the everyday bacon, eggs and toast) for breakfast. The service was great as well. We liked it so much we went back the very next morning. Its gotta be good if they have 3 other locals as well. GO THERE!!!!!

yes, Thumbs up is an absolute slap you mama favorite!
the place is crowded to the max but there is something so fresh and lip smacking good about the food. Great healthy choices in addition to the grits, bacon and eggs variety. It's a cozy neighboody city kinda place.

Sounds alot like Lou Mitchells in Chicago. When your in Chicago you should come visit and see what I mean. Oh yeah by the way they don't take credit cards either.

The VERY BEST breakfast in ATL!!!!!! Worth the wait..After you eat here, hope you don't have any plans because once you leave Thumbs Up you're just going to want to go home and sleep!! Seriously.. Thumbs Up is truly "thumb up", by far the best Mom and Pop's Restaurant in the "A"... The food is delicious, "Enuff Said.." Oh yea, they only accept cash..=tish

So I just get it to go and go to the edge of freedom parkway (by the mlk image house that overlooks the city) and eat a picnic lunch looking over atl. everything is from scratch. tons of vegetarian options. ask for the "smoky ...

I'm from the northern suberbs of ATL (SWF) but a coworker kept raving about the place so I made the drive one SAT morn. My friend lived closer so he went early and got on the waiting list (one hour). It was sooo worth it. Great people, True Soul Food! Great atmosphere. How bout opening another further up north??
