I couldn't put 4.5 on the "star thing" but that's where I'm at with the Vortex. I like the atmosphere, the food, and the service was pretty good as well.

IMHO, it needs to be bigger.

Not for me. Wouldn't know if the food was good or not. Absolutely such a smoke-filled restaurant that I can't imagine anyone really tasting their food. Couldn't breathe - even in a (supposedly) smoke free area. Folks were smoking at the next table - UGH! I know the owners/managers of this place don't really care, so patron-be-ware.

The Vortex is one of a kind with over 20 types of burgers on display. The ambience is unique in goth rockish, so not a family place. The waiter rules are a riot having been a waiter and the food is excellent for the bar food that it is. People usually get burgers but I get the other sandwiches that are just as good if not better. The Cuban sandwich with a side of fried zuchinni hits the spot for me.

The vortex is the BOMB!

In addition to the burgers, the drinks are very reasonably priced and the potato salad is to die for!!

The service is better in Little Five Points (pictured in this review)...but the one in the MidTown area is pretty good too. The only issue I had in MidTown is the overly flirty manager who flirted with our server so much (she really liked it) that she was distracted from DOING HER JOB!

When I visit Atlanta, I ALWAYS stop by the Vortex. Absolutely the best burgers anywhere! The atmosphere is awesome: friendly bartenders (unless you are a total ass) and the food is consistently awesome.

Pay no attention to the nay sayers and whiners. The Vortex offers the best hamburger in Atlanta. My favorites are the Rajin’ Cajun and Big Blue.

The servers are not rude and yes, you are expected to tip. Unless you’re a scumbag you’ll tip your server, anyway.
