This is not a place for the 99% of us who do most of the living and dying here on earth.
The hostess was extremely rude to my 79 year old father who requested to be seated soon, the food was mediocre, and the staff was very focused on taking care of their friends.
Poor old Tommy must be turning in his grave... where have the good old fashioned Bar and Grills gone?

I ATTEMPTED to dined at Pear St. Bistro 12/01/07 with a group of 15 friends ranging in age from 75 to 25 years old and we were seated in these really tall chairs that were very uncomfortable and we almost needed a step latter to get on them. I waited at least 45 minutes for the waitress to tell me and one other person that she had completely ...

Not impressed
By Nerol67, 09/14/07
I have lived in Pinole my entire 40 years and have always heard mixed reviews on the Pear Street Bistro. Today I gave it a try for lunch and the food was standard, but not impressed with the small portions and high prices there. Service was very mediocre, with us spending a whole hour and a half and $65 (inc. tip) on 3 salads, tea and dessert. ...

had seen the review on Channel 9, thought we'd try it for a birthday dinner (drove from Castro Valley). Way too noisy, very dark, seems more a bar/drink place (though pricey) Poor menu selections. I was really looking forward to a nice dinner. Ended up ordering Ceasar salad and the margarita pizza for a lack of anything else. Same pizza at ...

worst experience

I am not a food and fine dining expert, but I know a few things. This restaurant is a waste of a nice downtown location. Everything about the whole place is not conductive to a good meal. The bar is terrible also. I wouldn't wish this restaurant on my worst enemy. Just FYI - we've gone to this place five times to get a good sample to write a review.

Great bar scene but the food is overpriced
By Doug, 10/09/06
The place was once a 4 star in our book – but unfortunately over the last couple years the owners have decided to concentrate more on the bar scene in this restaurant than the food. On Friday or Saturday nights, the bar is one of the best in the area, e.g live jazz music in a trendy setting, a full bar with a great selection of mixed drinks ...

No, No, and No

For lunch, this place may be good, but for dinner..steer clear my friend. The lighting is horrible. I understand the whole romantic atmosphere, but we had to use the decoration candle to read the menu! The food was waay too salty; I ordered the seafood pasta and my sodium intake was over the usual limit. The service wasn't even all that great ...

Who knew Pinole had great places to eat.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/06
Pear Street offers some great food and atmosphere. Nice bar and good drinks. Drinks can be a bit pricey. Fun nonetheless.
Also try, Pinole Creek cafe. Right across from Pear Street. Superb price fixed dishes.

{::Hip joint for urbanites living in "suburbia". Everytime I am in town (moved to Southern California) I always make sure to stop by and have a drink or three! I highly recommend the CREAMSICLE, tastes just like the popsicle! Food is also delicious! It's Pinole's best kept secret!::}
