If you have ever had freshly made bar b que you will be dissappointed in this restaurant. The food is not horrible but it is not worth the price that you pay. It taste closer to a cafeteria food more than anything.

Very disappointing! The bbq was ok the slaw out of a can was terrible as were the frozen french fries. I will never go back, the prices were way high for the quality.

Bullocks may once have been good. But I have eaten there a few times over the past two years and I have been very disappointed. The side items are bad with the greens tasting like they were straight out of a discount brand can. It is a shame that such a local icon has gone downhill like this.

I grew up in the Durham area, but have not lived there for 30 years. We go back at least once a year to visit family, and the first place we hit is Bullocks. I have lived in six different states and in Guam, and trust me, you will not find BBQ any where else that compares to this. And don't even ask for Bruswick stew! They look at you like ...

I went with a group of seven people, all from different states (no locals... AL, LA, CA, PA, NH, NY, NJ) on Oct 16. We got the Bullock's family style for dinner and it was outstanding. We added the brisket (two plates as an extra) and it was the highlight of the night. Also the hush puppies were particularly fine. The pulled pork and ...

I lived here in Durham for around 5 years. I love NC style BBQ and if you want a good representation of what that is then you need to go to Bullocks. Yes its vinegar based but you wont get it smothered in a red bbq sauce, you taste the meat! Ive been known to frequently get the "family style" even if its just me and a couple other people ...

Well I finally checked out the hype about this place. What a disappointment! BBQ was Ok at best and the sides look and taste like they just came out of a can. What can I say....I won't be back.
If I had out of town guests and they wanted to get a taste of Durham and the South, this would be the first place I would take them. For all of you who are not Southern, you will relish the true Southern accents of the delightful waitstaff. They will treat you very well. Next, the food will treat you even better. Stick with the tried and true ...
I'm not a huge fan of Eastern NC barbecue. I lived in Memphis for years, and my standards are pretty high. NC bbq is too vinegary. That being said, Bullock's has the best I have tasted. And they have lots of other great food besides barbecue. Their menu has a full page of blue-plate specials every day, and it's all good. And I ...

We always look forward to going here!

I love going to this restaurant because the food and the service are great. The people are friendly and no matter how long the line is at the door, (and it's usually long!) you get in quickly and are servied quickly. This place is known far and wide for it's delicious barbeque and brunswick stew, but they have other home cooked, Southern ...
