My fiance, who is originally from Salem, took me here the first time I came to visit him. Right away I was totally blown away by the incredible views and the absolute charm of the Homeplace. The staff was friendly and the food was really great. Definite southern style cooking! And you can get as much as you want!

You do have to wait to be seated I have heard that is is up to 2 hours on the weeke ends. But it worth it. Hot biscuits with applebutter. I felt as if i was 5 agaoin and sitting my granny's kitchen. Everything is excelelnt but the iced tea it is way way too sweet!!!

We live about 7 miles from the restaurant and we LOVE it!! That review from 6/13...must've been a Northerner. ;) The HomePlace is to southern family style cooking what Emeril's is to shrimp and steak. It's worth the drive, but it will take a little while to get seated. Come hungry.

Quaint - but absolutely the worst food! Don't go here if you don't like it fried or salty!!! And don't ask for seconds on the skimpy salad - you won't get more!!! Don't even ask about what they do to perfectly nice stringbeans - yeck!!!
