Alberobello is like a page from a fairy tale. The trullis have an arabic influence from when the Moors occupied Italy. The history of the trullis is quite extensive, it has a fascinating tale to it. Italian historics say one thing, the real people (descentants of) say another. Very interesting!
We went to Alberobello to see the Trulli village and happened to turn up at the beginning of some religious festival, October 1st, in the streets of Alberobello. It was a highlight of our trip as they put up a gazebo in the square and wonderful street lighting for the night. There were street stalls everywhere and it was a great day and night. It is a short walk from there to the Trulli village which was a real treat!
