All of the castles in the region were fascinating...The tourist were nice. The beach was also funn... Its easy to get around and the prices are great. If I were you I would go to Cape Coast Castle. The view is beautiful and theirs a nice resteraunt near the castle. I give this place 5 stars;)

  • Dakar, SenegalAfricans employed by Europeans
    By June, 06/28/08
European forts along African coasts in the west, south, and east were used for shipping slaves to the caribbean, the Americas, and Arabia. Africans were encouraged to sell fellow Africans as did the Greeks and Romans sold their fellow countrymen. Goree Island in Dakar, Senegal is another classic castle where Europeans lived and dined upstairs while ...

  • Elmina Slave Castle
    By Sarah, 05/25/08
This can be a profound experience if you approach Elmina as what it was--a shipping point for enslaved Africans going to the "New World"--NOT a tourist attraction. Know that it was Africans who brought these people to the shipping points and sold them to the Europeans, who then packed them on the ships for North and South America and the ...

  • A lasting memory
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/26/08
I loved the people, the food and the culture. Dislike, too hot but nothing an aircondition will not fix. Best time to visit is around Christmas and New Year. Temperature is perfect because it is the hamatan(like fall)great parties and cultural celabration of the season. Christmas in Ghana is not what you expect, it is not about presents or stuff, it's being with people you love and sharing meals with.

  • You are going to Love Accra
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/07
I went to Accra, cape coast, kumasi and tema. The people of Ghana are really nice. the weather is similar to florida in the summer time. The exchange rate from dollars to cedi is very favorable. In the summer of 2007 it was 10 cedi for one dollar. If you go to accra, you have to plan a trip to cape coast to see elmina castle!! What a powerful ...
