Good food but a long wait. We will go back to try something new. Hoping next time the service is faster.

This place has fantastic Peruvian food, the service can be slow at times...but it's well worth the wait. Order a Pisco Sour as you wait for your food or some wine. The ambiance is very authentic and cozy, with hand carved wood chairs & beautiful paintings. My favorite dishes are the Lomo Saltado, Chicharon de Calamari, and for dessert TRES LECHES. I swear you can die that very moment so happy. I can't wait to go again!

Food was too expensive and not to my taste. The portion of food was small and the service was very slow and it took one hour to get the food. People drink beer outside in the parking lot. Bathrooms are not inside the restaurant, they share the bathroom with the other store and there is poor aircondition.

Always Tasty - Try something new!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/10/07
Each time we go to Flor de la Canela, we try something new off the menu. We have never been disappointed! The Lomo Saltado is always tasty, as are the chicken dishes. When I saw Peruvians and Latin Americans going there just for the ceviche at lunch, I had to try it and was very impressed. Very fresh, extremely tasty. Don't forget to try the yuca fries with the green dipping sauce. Great atmosphere and great service.

The Real Thing

I'd heard about this place for a long time but never went. Finally got around to going and wished I hadn't held off for so long. I lived in Peru for three years so I was a bit skeptical, but I can say without reservation that the food is outstanding. The ceviche was incredible, and the other dishes I've had were just as good. La Flor de la Canela in Gaithersburg, Maryland, is a great place to go for Peruvian food. Located in a strip mall along Frederick (355), it is hard to see from the street. Even looking for it, I missed it the first time I went there.
Not much to look at from the outside, the restaurant had a nice ambiance inside. The decor is simple but nice ...
