  • No longer on the "Have To" list for us
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/07
I had been warned that Michael Chiarello no longer owned this restaurant, but after seeing the crowd - and the menu prices - I still expected a very good meal. Tra Vigne was highly recommeneded 7-8 years ago (our first visit) and back then, it was a phenomenal... right up to the Cheese Course dessert. But this time it just seemed overpriced and ...

  • Uneven Service and Food At Tra Vigne
    By Les' Insights, 02/16/07
I went with a group of approximately a dozen people to Tra Vigne during February 2006. While the experience was enjoyable, I have to admit that I was expecting much more of a culinary experience. We were seated quickly and provided menus. Fresh foccacia and home made breads were brought to the table with wonderfully succulent olive oil. This ...

Not a great experience. In the olden days it was decent. It then went to mediocre. It has since descended into disappointing.
The food claims to be inventive. Better they stuck to traditional. Combos don't work, and they are so full of themselves. The idea that you need to be the Pope and have reseved a month or so before is obnoxious ...

  • Cantinetta nothing special
    By KentyMac, 10/14/05
We found the Cantinetta deli & wine bar through the Frommer's Guide which gave it its highest rating (3 stars). It is in the garden, just outside the main restaurant itself. I had high hopes but found the menu to be very limited, the portions were small, and the food was just so-so. About the best thing I can say is the bread was good and ...

I really wanted to love this place, but ended up only enjoying it. The atmosphere is the biggest plus, both inside and outside. The service was accomodating, but we did not receive the level of attention expected. The food on our visit was hit or miss. Some dishes were excellent, while others were below average. Most impressive dish was the pasta with lamb.
