First off..we got seated in about 10 minutes by a very friendly smiling young lady..my wife ordered a tuna sandwich which was large and good..the french fries were excellent and a big big order...the chili was excellent though I wish it were hotter..all in all a nice experience..I have wanting to go there for years..its in a black neighborhood but the customers were 80% white..there were 20 in line when we left.....

I went there but didn't order because the line was around the block. Took at pic of the front though just to say I have been there.

I enjoyed my dining experience @ Ben's Chili Bowl: Menu Items are reasonally priced. The Chilli is delicious.

Had heard about this place and couldn't wait to try it out. It really is an experience that just makes you smile. The food is great, the customers friendly and the staff are fun yet committed to serving you. If I had a complaint it would be that the order line is too long. However, if they changed the set-up they would also lose their charm. Went right back the next week!

Ben's is the best on the late night/club night, a true U Street crowd pleaser.

Ben's Chili Bowl was well worth the trip. We planned our first day in D.C. around having lunch here. The place was packed, but service was fast and on the mark. Finding a seat was easy, people are in and out fast. Best Chili dog and Chili Cheese Fries I have ever had. This is a must stop for anyone traveling to D.C.

If you are a health food nut skip Ben's Chili Bowl. For those of us that love flavor with our food, there's none better. The chili dogs are to die for whether straight up, half-smoke, or smothered in chili. I have traveled all over the world and the U.S. and haven't foud a better dog anywhere. We go to Ben's Chili Bowl as a special reward for my son and whenever we want to have just a nice family day. The Cosby Half smoke is my son's favorite as are the banana milkshakes. HUGE disappointment. Given the reputation I expected to at least like, not love, my food. I ordered the chili dog and was so disappointed that I didn't want to finish it. The chili was very bland and tasted watered down. The fries were good. The milkshake was good but was not worth the price. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Overhyped and overpriced.
