Great food, great ambience, great traditional dresses by the waiters and watresses. We ate there a few years back and fell in love with Ethiopian. We walked from the hotel so did not have to park....so can't complain about parking.

Good food; average service; very lively

Meskerem is a very good Ethiopian restaurant (though not as good as Langano in downtown Silver Spring)! The food is very good, but not great, the parking leaves little to be desired. In the evening and especially weekends, it gets very crowded and often no one will come to seat you or even greet you for up to 30 mins! If you have to sit upstairs, ...

Good if you like Ethiopian
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/06
My first try at Ethiopian, I couldn't get over the spongy bread... it made me feel like I was eating flesh. This second time, however, I was cured of my repulsion and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed eating with my hands, sharing one plate with 3 people, and breaking (tearing) bread with my friends. It was a bonding social experience. Whatever the ...

We loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
Meskerem was perfect for our little group. We picked out some meat and some vegetable dishes. They were served all together on a huge communal dish, with injera bread as the "utensil". Everything was delicious. I was with people from work, and sharing family-style was a great ice breaker.
This is a great place! Please try the honey wine called "tej". They have window sitting so you can see the hustle and bustle of Adams Morgan. The food is ecclectic and the ambiance is superb. If you want something different and out of the norm try Meskeram!
I'm always full and satisfied when I dine at Meskerem. If you're a reggae lover like myself, it's the best spot for dining and dancing on a Friday night. Cultcha doesn't spin every Fri so you just have to check ahead of time. Oh, almost forgot - they serve dinner until really late too!

I'd go back

This Ethipian restaurant to me is better than some of the others on the block. As with most ethnic restaurants in the area, it's not the cleanest of facilities, but the food is good. That's mostly what I go for anyway. As long as I can get doro wot, with fresh chicken and fresh eggs, it automatically gets 3 stars outta me...which is more than I can say for some of the other Ethiopian restaurants on that strip.

horrible food & bad service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/05
The arrogant server gave us appetizers after the main course! Food is highly okay, one of the veg items in our platter tasted stale. I've eaten 10 times better Ethopian food at Makeda in Princeton, NJ. Their honey wine tasted cheap and watery. It was raining and the ceiling above us was leaking. None of the staff even cared to apologize or ...
