Being a native Mexican that moved to DC few years ago, i have to say that this place is awful. The food is NOT Mexican at all but a combination of Mexican/Guatemalan/Salvadorean food. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is not the place. If you are looking for an overrated place, pretending to know Mexican food then you belong to ...

I moved from Texas to the East Coast over two years ago. Besides family, the thing I miss the most is the Tex-Mex. I had given up on ever finding decent food, much less worth while Mexican food. The service was quick and the food was just like home.

The Mexican food I've had a this place was better than the Mexican food I had in Mexico. This place is one of my first favorites; fresh hot tortilla chips and margherita's while you wait. Authentic salsa, the spicy version, the stuff will clear your sinus and get rid of acne. A deal pricewise too. I've never been able to eat my whole ...

Sizzling food and sizzling prices
By Kymian, 09/26/05
Whether out with your friends or with your honey, this is a great spot to enjoy delicious food and drinks--I love the sangria and the margaritas. The fajitas are sizzling and some of the best I've ever had. It's an all out Mexican feast and MORE! I also love their salmon and roasted chicken, black beans and rice. And for the value, you can't go wrong!

South of the Border on 18th Street NW

In the midst of one of DC's densest restaurant clusters Lauriol Plaza still manages to stand out with good food, generous portions and a trendy culture-conscious crowd of regulars who wouldn't dream of Sunday Brunch anywhere else. The restaurant is spacious enough that it can accomodate large groups as well as intimate twosomes without anyone feeling crowded.

Located in upper Dupond Circle area, Lauriol Plaza is house in a huge loft style building with lots of windows and a rooftop that permits seating all year round. LP is always hopping, specially on the weekends were it is literally filled to capacity. Often times the wait times are beyond one hour, but it is a wait that is worth the patience. LP ...

Food is usually excellent but service can be lackluster at times. I've been going to LP for so many years but I find service to be hit or miss (one was so rude I almost stopped going). Overall, excellent fajitas, atmosphere and margaritas to die for!

I've gone to this restaurant a couple of times. The food is delicious and they have great service. You can really tell that the food is freshly made. I enjoy going to Lauriol Plaza, especially to eat on the third level, which is an open-air, patio like area. On a beautiful night, you can really enjoy great food with your friends OR with that ...
This is some of the best Mexican food the city has to offer (some of the best Margaritas too!). The best times to go are especially during the warmer months where you can eat outside on the patio or on the upper deck. But get there early or be prepared to have to scramble for parking and wait in long lines (even at the bar). It makes for a great ...
