We found the Munger Inn to be a great change of pace from the chain hotels. It's great for bikers/skiers and is dog friendly. When we checked in the lady working that night was very helpful and friendly. She gave us breakfast of cereal and fruit to take back to our rooms that night after we mentioned we would be leaving early in the morning ...

Best price in city

I have stayed in the Inn on several occasions, normally 4-5 nights each trip. I do not really stay for the "extras" but just a place to hang my hat and sleep. If I should want the other motel luxuries I would certainly elect a higher cost hotel downtown, This is one of the few mom & pop deals still around, you would probably pay $5-6 ...

Great Place, Great Price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/09
We booked a ski trip to Spirt Mountain with the ski free package. It was a great deal. It is a strip-mall like hotel, which didn't look so appealing when we pulled int. However, the room was very nice, new carpet and heated floors. We were in the lower courtyard in the Fireplace Suite. Says online it will sleep 6 but really only sleeps 5 ...
Me and a few friends were taking a trip to Spirit Mt. and saw the rather misleading weekend ski free package they advertised on their website and we were slammed with a bill double the advertised price. I even called ahead of time to get a price estimate for the weekend and i was told $179 and I was billed over $300. When I confronted the manager ...

A terrible experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/08
I made a reservation about 1 1/2 months in advance. When I called to confirm my reservation the day before we left, they didn't have it in their system and they had no rooms left! They totally ruined our weekend and barely apologized.
This was the perfect little place to stay, especailly if you like the outdoors. The rooms are decorated so nicely, the services were great such as free bike and canoe rentals for guests, a great continential breakfast, and a free pass for the Lake Superior Zoo. The staff is great and have been there forever!! The housekeepers are very kind and ...

Even Willard Munger wouldn't help us!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/06/07
We arrived late just before the office closed with a 10 month old baby. We checked into our room discovered it dirty! Toothpaste in the sink, not vaccumed, extremely dusty, refrigerator hardly cold, shower had a big crack in it, etc. We reported it right away to the front desk and he said they could do nothing about it....I thought not even switch ...

I loved the private owned feel. There is an outdoor bonfire pit where guests from other rooms come out and all get together. Very relaxed, outdoors feel.

Will Stay There Whenever I go to Duluth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/07
I LOVED this inn! Management was so nice and friendly. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable-- the whirlpool suite is highly recommended! If you are an outdoors fanatic, there are biking and hiking trails right next to the inn and the Lake Superior zoo is just down the road. The only downside is that it is a good 6-7 minute drive to Canal ...

Eco-Friendly Management

Willard Munger Inn management lives up to the namesake's interest in the environment. It is a great place to learn where to go birding, biking or hiking in the area. Great breakfast - fresh waffles - included.
