We stayed at the hotel in mid-October 2008. The hotel is sharply decorated in antique furniture with upgrades throughout the first floor and our room.

Not only do I agree with "Jack" but I also wished i had read his review before going. we only spen 1 night before changing Hotels. The staff was not very helpful or friendly and the food was very bland and high priced

I absolutely loved the dining area. The tin ceilings were beautiful. We were told that the American House had acquired a new chef. We had the opportunity to speak with him. I told him my expectations and was pleasantly surprised with our meal. We liked the decor of the bedroom and the private bath was wonderful. Will definately visit The American House again.

The atmosphere is fantastic! Really takes you back to a different era. The rooms are very beautiful and reasonably priced. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on, I would have slept all day if possible!! Newly renovated rooms are very clean. Hardwood floors in the rooms, wow!, and tile bathrooms with old time pedestal sinks and cast iron tubs and showers. The beds are old time styles, sleigh beds, wood carved beds and metal beds with pillowtop mattresses made for an excellant nights sleep and a romantic night that won't be forgotten.

Excellent food. So refreshing to have a menu that's diverse, interesting and not the same as every other restaurant.
As far as price, you get what you pay for. The food is deliciious, abundant and beautifully presented. Service was good as well.

Not your typical breakfast - Everything you would find in a classy restaurant without the high prices.... A truly enjoyable experience..

Food was expensive, delivered to the table cold, and the service was just so-so. Will not recommend and will never go back!
