We were terribly disappointed after hearing accolades about this upscale restaurant. The service was slow, the drinks were made somewhere other than the closed bar. Our party of four went with the understanding that the prices were high and in turn expected a first class experience.
One of our entrees Grouper was rancid: the fish reeked of ...
It's a nice place, but right on the main road (very noisy) and the resturant is way over-priced. Way too expensive for a family ! Might make a nice place for a couple's weekend, but be prepared to spend alot of $$$

The setting is very nice as is the service. It is way overpriced, $34 for roast chicken, come on. The place was practically deserted at a time when Tahoe is at its absolute busiest. The food is good, but not worth the price. If last night is any indication of the traffic they get, I give it a year before it gets sold or they make a drastic changes.
First off the West Shore Cafe has an excellent location and wonderful views while dining on the deck or pier. With that said any lakeside restaurant will have great views. It is expensive (surf and turf $90) and the portions are small. The service was below average especially considering the price. The waiter started by spilling an entire drink ...

Great staff and food BUT the price for a room was just silly...

First off, the food at the West Shore Cafe is a little pricy but absolutely fantastic, along with the very friendly wait and bar staff! We also stayed several nights at the Inn - which has nice rooms and a great view but at $300 - $500 a night, doesn't come close to being worth it.
The Inn had just recently opened and it was readily ...
The food, wine, and service were all fantastic, incredible, luxurious. It is amazing that this high calibur of a Restaurant is found in such a remote area as Homewood, with a population of 250! It's better than most, if not all, of the best restaurants in many major metropolitan cities. About $30-40 per entree. The cheapest wine was about $40/bottle.

Just returned from a Tahoe vacation and we enjoyed the West Shore Cafe so much we drove around the lake a second time just to have lunch there. The service was impecable, the views to die for, and the food was great!! The fresh nectarine and berry cobbler with ginger ice cream was amazing. We were seated at the end of the pier our 1st time there - felt like you were out on the lake. You can also boat in - so much fun!!!!

Had an opportunity to lunch on the pier recently. Good Service. Food was OK, though overpriced. Seemed to have lost Tahoe west shore feel and ambience. Maybe some time will cure. New pier, deck and bar is great offering more room.

I dined there on their first night open after a several year overall makeover. The ambiance was very different from the previous West Shore Cafe in that it was very fancy and less cafe like. The view was still fabulous though. The service was great. My $10 salad was OK. Nothing to rave about, in fact, quite ordinary. The 2 small rolls that were served were also basic.
