As we entered the lobby thought there must be a wedding because there were so many people taking pictures. Much to our surprise it was just tourist taking pictures of the lobby. The architecture of the Glen tavern is stunning. We asked to see the rooms and decided to stay in 208. Apparently John Wayne had stayed there during filming days of the ...
The hotel was built in 1911 and was very cool in that regard but had a VERY small room, more than a little ragged around the edges, small beds that sagged in the middle, tiny bathroom, no tub, just a tiny shower you could barely turn around in with the shower head at about chest level, no remote for the TV, out of toilet paper in the ...

Grew up with the Glen Tavern Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/07
I have lived in the area since 1948 and in Santa Paula during the 50's. The Glen Tavern has always been there. In the olden days it was a destination for movie stars. My Mom and grandparents lived in SP during the depression and even then it was functioning. I've seen it at its worst and at its best. It is charming and takes you back ...

Perfect Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/06
My husband and I had our anniversary come and go, uncelebrated. We finally got a free weekend (free of work, free of kid, etc.) and we came across this place. Susan the innkeeper was wonderfully friendly. We appreciated her enthusiatic way of showing us the rooms and the small town of Santa Paula. Monica was just as friendly and helpful w/the ...

Won't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/06/06
Looked nice from the street, and first floor lobby. Web site sets high expectations, and hotel underdelivers. Rooms upstairs were were not well maintained. Staff did not have customer service mindset. Hotel had a large kitchen fire and construction was ongoing and messy.

Glen Tavern On Fire
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/06
A nice place for lunch. While at lunch today the fire started (about noon) and burned the roof of the structure and was still burning as we departed the area. All diners were asked to leave the restaurant and were ushered out in a very professional manner. One has to feel sympathy for the owner as I was informed that it took a great deal of time and money to get the restaurant open some 6 weeks ago.

Beautiful architectural design

My husband and I were so surprised to find this amazing historical hotel. You walk into the past. The manager, Marilyn was so nice to us. We felt right at home. The lobby is so gorgeous and we met with other guests and chatted. Can't wait for the restaurant to open, because we will be back!

Journey Into The Past
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/30/05
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised to discover this charming, historical inn in Santa Paula. Entering the elegant lobby is like walking into history. The downstairs hallway is decked with old Hollywood movie posters as apparently this hotel was once the haunt of many a movie star. Our room had a jacuuzi, which was a nice un-historical touch. ...
