With a breathtaking view of Florence below, the Antico Spedale del Bigallo is located in a medieval building dating from the 13th century which lies on a hill 5 km. south east of the city. A hospital for pilgrims and wayfarers until the 16th century, it then became a monastery. Today it is a modern and comfortable youth hostel with 50 beds housed in an appealing medieval style.
