Love the hosts Bob and Christine. They are genuine, kind and very knowledgeable. She bakes and passes around goodies, he lends bicycles and suggests itineraries. The place itself isn't the lap of luxury but well worth the price. Great location, but really great people and a cozy atmosphere. Not a party place.

I've been to many hostels in my time and a few flash brand new ones too, but none have the personal touch like Freemans Lodge. Owners Bob and Christine are so very friendly and really make you feel at home. Rooms are fine, clean and very safe. Location is perfect for MCG, tennis, Bridge rd shops and just a short tram/train to cbd. If your looking for 5 star facilities with unhelpful, unfriendly staff...look elsewhere. Great value for money.
