This was my first visit to the mission, and i was impressed with the decor of the eatery .... The food was average at best ( after a few drinks it got better ) , but what really caught my eye was our waitresses attire !!! I was with my boyfriend and my only fear was when she served us our burritos , she might just serve us a lil bit more. If ...

Unique Pan American/Mexican

Now I might be bias with this opinion because I know most of the staff here but this place has class! The food is all original ideas from the owner Steve and the decor is very intriguing. Not to mention the history behind this building. The Underground Railroad actually led into the basement of this place, how cool is that? This place is top notch.
The Mission is such a cool place - my favorite meal is the chicken burrito with the Chipotle salsa & a mojito. The building is historic, the wait staff are attentive, and I am never disappointed with my meal. A typical dinner for two, including a $5 drink, is right around $40...not too bad. I highly recommend it.
There is no "real" Mexican food in Syracuse, but if you want something along that line, this is the best of the 2 choices (in my opinion). They offer a good selection of "traditional" fare, while suggesting interesting variations on familiar dishes.

Great Mexican food that is not afraid to venture away from typical tacos and burritos. A unique, festive atmosphere in a historic building. Awesome!

The food is wonderful..try anything and you will not be dissapointed. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The only drawback is that this place is so good that on nights that have something going on in the area (hockey or SSO, for example) the wait can be long and the bar fills up fast, literally leaving no place for patrons to wait.
Syracuse has a fun and tasty Mexican restaurant, The Mission! In my opinion the salt and spiciness of the food was a bit shy, the ambience made-up for it! (and the fact that Syracuse has few alternatives) Located in downtown Syracuse in a renovated Church that was also part of the Underground Railroad made for a feast for the eyes! The food was good too, though have had one waiter who was a bit odd...other than that, I recommend a trip!
Always on the lookout for great Mexican food, I was pleased to discover The Mission several years ago. It's on the pricier side of Syracuse Mexican, but it's worth it! They do not have a liquor license, but do have a great selection of beers & wine *and* they've concocted an interesting and tasty margarita using sangria. They have all ...
