I went there after the Revlon Breast Cancer Walk with a bunch of girls. We had a blast. The Margharitas were realy yummy, rasberry and the food was very good. The service was incredible, and we got loads of free salsa, chips and guac for free. You really can't beat that. I would definitely go back.
they have good drinks but the food is not known in nyc to be great and god knows theres no "line"..thre are 100 other better mexican places in nyc and millions more outside nyc in tex-mex area. this is just another example of why you can;t belive everything you read...especially on the WEB!!!
For Real Mexican food its ok but its not like your eating real mexican food. If you are ever in San Diego go to Las Cuatros Milpas by the coronado bridge..this is authentic mexican food...its ok food for being in New York
I have lived in the south my whole life. I visit the Northern world from time to time and NEVER found anything resembling mexican food or tex mex. Every resturant was owned and ran by Asians. I refuse to belive that El Rio could hold a candle to 1000's of places in the south. I may be wrong but after reading the reviews I have little doubt. ...

You MUST try the Margaritas

Tex-Mex beyond belief. My wife and I are seriously addicted to the food here, I recommend the "Queso con Pollo" and the frozen strawberry margarita. A meal for two (with two drinks each) for right around $50. Make sure to make reservations for the weekend, because this place gets packed quickly. A great first date location, as well as meeting up with friends for some drinks and fun.
