Joe's Shanghai is my favorite restaurant. For an appetizer, aside from the pork and crab soup dumplings, I recommend the scallion pancakes. For an entree I highly recommend the Shanghai Flat Noodles or the Chicken Fried Rice Cake (which is actually round noodles not fried rice). The Shanghai fried rice is to die for and for dessert they have fried dough - almost like donuts with a warm sweet dipping sauce - soooo yummy!

Real chinese and authentic chinese foodies know that this restaurant is really not all that! It's a tourist trap. The food is mediocre. The only thing that is just pretty good are the siu long bau -little juicy buns or what this summary is calling soup dumplings. You're better off going to other establishments in chinatown that serve better food at lower prices.

Soup dumplings are the best! We also had lion's head, the meatballs were so tender and moist. Communal tables are fine, it's fun and adds to the experience. I will be going back very soon.

Joe's Shanghai has cornered the market on their delicious soup dumplings! The restroom and customer service issues are typical for Chinese restaurants, sad to say, because I am Chinese. I think that this is part of the culture.

Great Chinese restaurant. It's worth a trip just for the soup dumplings.

Less than mediocre food. Our beef was oily and lacked texture. Chicken was overcooked and stiff. Appetizers were terrible. The scallion pancake was too oily and took over 1//2 hour to be served. Worst SERVICE EVER! Rude waiters, and at the end of the meal one waiter actually asked for a bigger tip and stood at the table trying to justify why he ...

My wife and I went to Joes on the back of all the great reviews out there about this restruant. As we were not too hungry we tried to order an entree and a main to share. The waiter told us in an incredulous tone "Thats all!?" Feeling pressured, we ordered a fried rice as well. The entree arrived...pork dumplings. It was at best ...

I think this place has to be the best Chinese food anywhere in the US and I have been to restaurants all over the US from the east coast to the west coast. The Soup Dumpling are so good. I suggest if you go even though its an appettizer two orders will fill you up. The prices are good and food is very good.

I had a bad experience in this restaurant recently. The steam buns were cold in the center. Service was rude. Never again, good bye!

I was there last winter with a few of my guests from Europe. I had been there so many times and it had always been good. But this time when the waiter brought a jar of tea a cockroach was crawling over it and I was so embarrassed and became speechless... I asked the waiter to change the tea which he immediately responded. But we totally lost ...
