This is a hidden gem - you simply can not miss. First - this was our honeymoon - so yes everything seemed prefect - but our stay really was memorable. First is the Inns location - you can not beat it. There are so many restuarants, taverns, bars, shops as well as attractions such as boat tours within minutes of the Inn. Second is the actual ...
The room was tiny and the one window was even tinier. The bathroom couldn't even fit the sink, which was outside in the room. We were there late summer and at night the room gets incredibly hot and there is nothing you can do other than use the little fan in front of the tiny window. It's really just a few rooms off of an upstairs hall ...
The Ale House Inn is amazing! I stayed once before when it was The Bow Street Inn and was not impressed. I found the Ale House Inn on the web and after falling in love with the look realized it was where the old Bow Street Inn was. I didn't know it had changed but was eager to stay and see the differences.
So convenient to everything we wanted to do in downtown. We just parked the car and walked the entire weekend. We stayed here previously when it was The Bow Street Inn, and it was just horrible then. The new owners have done an incredible job renovating the place into a very chic little hotel. Portsmouth needed this! Great amenities. Super ...
Great location right in the heart of downtown Portsmouth. We parked, and walked to all the shops and restaurants right outside the door. There is not food served here, but didn't mind, as there are great places to eat within a few blocks. Rooms are small, but have excellent amenities, comfortable beds, and great 32" TVs. Especially ...
I know it was the last room available and lowest price at $179+ tax, but this was one small room. Hard to maneuver in and out of the place and just a slit for a window, so no view at all. Common area didn't offer much either and I saw no breakfast snacks or coffee as another post mentioned.
Great location to walk anywhere downtown, so no reason to spend any time in the room.
A group of us travel up to Portsmouth every year to attend The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Seacoast Repertory Theater (best show ever!) and, of course, stay at the Inn which is upstairs from the theater. Great location (right in downtown Portsmouth), charming rooms, friendly owner, little community kitchenett area with fresh breakfast eats and drinks for the morning ! It's our yearly pleasure to book at the INN !!!!
Whenever we are in the area or just passing through, we always try to stay there. The Inn is beautiful and so comfortable. We think we have had the best nights sleep of any hotel/motel we have ever slept in. The location is wonderful. On the habor and in walking distance of anything in the downtown or historic area. We love the Bow Street Inn!
