Not what it used to be.
I've dined at JoI a couple of times. 6 months ago the flavors were subtle and layered, the ingredients fresh and the service adequate..
In my most recent visit, I found the curry's flat and salty. The tandoori chicken was cooked days earlier and rubbery and the service was down right surlyOVERALL

The food was terrific. The laters of flavor are unlike anything ever experienced before. it is a small space but the owners are very accomodating. Would completely recommend.
The chicken tikka was really good and the bread sampler is nice if you have never had indian food before. Would suggest the chai as well. Very good.

Lordy lordy!Oh I love this place! My mouth starts watering the second I walk in the door and that smell hits me. Loooove the nan with the dipping sauces, and everything I've tried on the menu has been phenomenal. So flavorful and delicious. Service is pretty good, I like that it's a family place, and they're all there.OVERALL

Best Indian in the areaWe frequent Jewel of India as often as we can! My 11-yr old daughter is especially fond of the food there. I have eaten several times at the three or so Indian restaurants in Portland, and I think Jewel of India is the best. No need to drive into Portland for Indian!

Our Favorite Place to EatMy husband and I live in Biddeford and were introduced to this restaurant by my parents. It immediately became our all-time favorite place to eat. The owners are friendly people and the food is phenomenal! We have eaten there scores of times and the quality of the food has always been fabulous. If you are in the mood for something rich, exotic, and out of the ordinary, Jewel of India is for you.OVERALL
