Almost didn't go!I went there only because a friend would not let me leave PR without visiting the Nuyorican. It was a short drive from the hotel and parking was almost impossible to find. I'm sure there are parking garages near by.
The music was incredible. That night you could have any kind of beer as long as it was Heineken. Apparently they ran out ...SHOW FULL REVIEW

Groupo Nandi A DisappointmentLast year I came to the Nuyorican and had a great time. But this past weekend was a real let down. There was this group there called Nandi and they were really weak. The singing and the music was bad - and the dancing only a little better. The place was almost empty - not like when I saw this band called Yerba Buena last year. Everytime I'm in Puerto Rico I make sure to go by!I love the Nuyorican Cafe because it's a great place to relax and enjoy great live music. i'm never disappointed by the entertainment (only by ability to speak Spanish :-)! used to be interestingFor long time residents of Old San Juan this has become a total fake, a place to pretend that Puerto Rican culture is being supported while in fact privatizing the public space of the Old City. Puerto Rican FUNComing from freezing cold Boston for a visit, the wife and I wanted to experience the heat and excitement of Old San Juan. This was the perfect place for us. Live Music, Salsa Dancing, Beautiful People Having Fun.
The owners are fun down to earth people.

Salsa, sexy/sweaty, cold drinksBohemia rocks with the long haired beauties dancing side by side with (and sometimes pressed up against) the trendy, tightly-coiffed hipsters in this ultra-laid-back dance and drink spot. so much talent!!!The nuyorican is da house for an active, talented community of artists that dedicate to performing in Old San Juan. And thus giving visitors (always welcome) an authentic feel of what's happening and what people are doing here.
