The decor and food are outstanding, the bed and linens sublime. Not in a great area of Asheville but close to what we wanted to do. We did not even need supper after the filling afternoon tea! Although it is expensive, it is worth it!

2 night minimum

Tried to book a monday night at this B&B and was told I was required a 2 night minimum. Their website states a 2 night is only required for weekend stays. I informed them of what their webstie says and they acknowledge it and still required a 2 night stay.
Not very helpful, I would not recommend them to anyone.

The building is ADORABLE, everything you would expect from the outside of a small B&B. So when my mother came to visit for a week I couldn't wait to book her a room there but they were SO rude to me on the phone! I was so turned off I booked mom for a week at the Wright Inn just down the street where they couldn't have been nicer or more amenable. Too bad the Black Walnut lost my business!

99 1/2 % Doesn't do it!

My wife and I chose Black Walnut because of the history and what seemed would be a great place to explore Asheville for our 20th wedding anniversary. The location was nice and the room was nice, however though all the visit was really nice, the end caused our entire visit to be forever scarred. They had stated that our credit card would be charged ...

If you go to Asheville, this is truly the best place to stay!
Everything was so wonderful. From the very helpful hosts; to the gourmet breakfasts; to the better than any hotel, cozy rooms. We thought the rooms looked nice in the pictures, but they look even more spectacular in person. This is a very romantic place to go in Asheville.
Absolutely the best B&B. Peter and Laurie will make you the best breakfast you've ever had, and even share a tale or two with you in the greeting room at the afternoon (complimentary) wine tasting.
I would (and have) recommed(ed) this place to anyone wishing to visit Asheville.
My husband and I stayed at the Black Walnut Bed and Breakfast in mid November 2006 and absolutely had a wonderful time!! It was relaxing and the food and accommodations were exceptional! The owners were very inviting and friendly making our first stay ever at a bed and breakfast a delightful experience! We loved it so much that we gave my mother a trip for Christmas! We will definitely go back and have recommended it to many of our friends!!

Difficult to get them to follow their cancellation policy.
Never made it to The Black Walnut due to illness. Cancelled 56 hrs prior to check-in time and the owner stated they would be charging our Visa 100%($400) of our reservation fee. My husband tried to reason with the owner to no avail. A second unpleasant phone call also got us no where. We then emailed them, reiterated their printed cancellation policy ...
The Black Walnut was full of class and so relaxing at the same time. The owners are fabulous and the food is out of this world. We really recommend the Black Walnut room - it was gorgeous!
