Giacomo's let me start....got there early service was fast waitperson seemed liked she was in a rush...food was ok, nothing to go crazy about have had better at other places within 5 minutes walk....but the reason I will never go back....is while your eating wait people constantly asking if your done, I noticied at all the tables around me....the restaurant is quite small.....never again

Giacomo's is hands down my favorite restaurant in the Boston area. My wife and I love the mom-and-pop hole in the wall feel here. Half Lobster pasta with red sauce is AMAZING here - can't get enough of it. If I didn't know about health laws I'd think they put cocaine in their food because it tastes so good. The prices are very ...
I've eaten at Giacomo's at least three times in the past year or so and I am never disappointed. It can be crowded, and you want to get there as they open the doors, but it is wonderful. Take the time to chat with the staff - they're great, as are the other patrons - most of them are regulars. I would go more often, but I live almost four hours away.

What a wonderful restaurant!!

I would say gathering place, because it was so comfortable there, but it is too small to allow people to hang out too long. The seating was VERY tight, but the other customer's and staff seemed so comfortable with it that it put me at ease. I was taken in by the look of the place, fantastic old building with tin ceilings and brick walls...not ...

New Favorite Restaurant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/06
Giacomo's in the North End is the best!!!!! The food is so fresh and the wait staff is awesome. You feel so at ease and comfortable as soon as you get there. The wait was not long. You have to try the calamari and in particular the squash ravioli's!!!!! Everybody was right, you have to go to Giacomo's. It is my new favorite restaraunt!!!!! : )

overrated

The waitstaff, wine, and atmosphere are nice, but the food is not worth the line. It's rather bland and uninspired, to save just a few dollars it's not worth the wait.

Good food but LOUSY service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/05
I used to frequent Giacomo's in the South End on a monthly basis and liked the food. There were only two big problems. The ambience was bad and the service was horrible. The restaurant is very loud and the tables are crammed together. You'll be amazed if you can actually carry on a conversation. But the service was even worse. The wait ...
I had the Wahoo - it was way overcooked, and of course this was disappointing since it was the priciest thing on the menu. My dates meal was decent, but the sauce was too heavy, and smothered the meal.
Wine is affordable, that's about the only positive thing I got out of this overrated joint.

Good food but....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/02/05
When I go to a resturant I expect 3 things as a customer: respect, good eat, and fair prices. Giacomo's has the good eat and cheap prices for the amount of food you receive (even though they fill 3/4 of your plate with pasta) but the waitress was rude and unprofessional. To me I can get food that tastes just as good or even better in the North End and receive the respect and kindness i deserve as a paying customer.
Giacamos has some of the best tasting Italian food in the North End with a variety of homemade pastas and meat and seafood dishes. The food is also cheaper than that at many of the other restaurants, but there is almost always a wait for a table and then the tables are very close together and the service is sometimes rushed and not as friendly as they could be.
