Price was cheap, so was the cleanleness, musty oder and animals were running all around. I think the casts were lookiong for mice or rats. Think twice about this joint.

February, 07 was our 5th visit to Venice, but our first to La Calcina. The experience at this lovely hotel was superb. In order to enjoy this you must book far in advance, but believe me, it is worth it.

We arrived at the train station and caught the #82 Vaporetto. It stopped at the Zatterre and the walk was short to hotel. Check-in was fast and efficient and the stairs to our room was not bad. We liked everything about this lovely hotel. The location and views are very good, although initially we thought differently about location. We won't be back because our room tripled in price from '04 to '06.

I loved the clean, elegantly simple and well crafted rooms. It was within easy walking distance of shops and water taxi stops. I loved the deck out front to sit and watch the action on the canal. What a great value. I would go back in a heartbeat.

the location is excellent and the staff so extrordinary, we have been twice and intend to go many more times.
