Location Information
The MacArthur Pine, named in honor of great World War II General Douglas MacArthur, stands in a grove of birch, hemlock and spruce. At one time it was the largest white pine of its kind at over 400-years old. Over the years, age, wind, and lightning have taken their toll on the giant of the woods. With a diameter of 68 inches, it once stood 148 feet in height. Now at 100 feet, it is still a sight to see. The best time to view the giant pine is May through October. There is parking for 3 vehicles. The site is about 30 feet from the parking area and is not handicapped accessible.
