Van Buren State Park is characterized by wooded dunes and wonderful scenery where folks enjoy summertime recreations.

Van Buren State Park is a scenic area enjoyed by thousands. The park offers one mile of Lake Michigan waterfront affording ideal sunbathing, swimming, and boating. The 220-site campground offers both sun and shade sites with features that include children's playground equipment, sanitation station, and modern bathhouse facilities. The campground opens April 1 and closes December 1. The modern bathhouse facilities are available from April 15 to November 1. The park is conveniently located six miles from the 38-mile Kal-Haven Trail State Park, which extends from South Haven to Kalamazoo.

Visitors to Van Buren State Park enjoy camping, swimming, sunbathing, paddlesports, hiking and cross-country skiing.

West Coast Michigan experiences pleasant summers with temperatures averaging 70 degrees F (21 degrees C). In winter, temperatures plunge to 22 degrees F (-6 degrees C). Lake winds have dramatic affect on wind chill factors. Yearly precipitation averages 40 inches and above.
