Sterling State Park is located in southeast Michigan on Lake Erie's Brest Bay. The bay sits just north of where the Raisin River spills into the Great Lake. The park boasts many lagoons and marshes providing good habitat for a variety of wildlife and bird life.Sterling State Park has recently received a $12 million renovation which included updating handicap accessibility. The campground offers 288 sites with modern facilities, open April 15 to November 1. A swimming beach, boat launch, and shore fishing are the main day use attractions. Over two miles of asphalt surface are offered for those who enjoy tooling the park on bike. Nature lovers will enjoy exploring the many wetlands where bird life and wildlife is in abundance. Hiking trails available.

Southeast Michigan is the warmest region in the state with summer temperatures averaging 70 degrees F (above 21 degrees C) but it is not infrequent for days to reach the high 80s. Winter temperatures are warmer as well with averages hovering just below freezing. Yearly moisture amounts range between 18 - 32 inches.
