Located on Saginaw Bay at the "thumb," Port Crescent State Park stretches for three miles offering one of the finest sand beaches in the state park system. Over 550 acres of northern coastal terrain characterize the park, which rests at the site of a former bustling community, Port Crescent.

Port Crescent State Park has a modern 181-site campground with a waterfront view of Lake Huron and Pinnebog River. Each site comes equipped with electric hookup, fire ring, and picnic table. The camping facilities are open April 1 to December 1 with modern bathhouses closing November 1. Three miles of sandy shore provide the perfect sunbathing, swimming, and fishing location. A 900-foot boardwalk and five picnic decks offer scenic vistas from the top of sand dunes in the day use area. Hiking trails (over 5 miles) are open to cross-country skiers in winter. Contact the park office for information about area ski rentals and the wintertime candlelight ski tours.

Camping, swimming, playground fun, horseshoes, hunting, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling are enjoyed at the park.

Saginaw Bay has mild to warm summers with temperatures averaging above 70 degrees F (above 21 degrees C). Winter temperatures average 18 to 22 degrees F (-8 to -6 degrees C). This is the driest region in the state with yearly precipitation amounts hovering around 28 inches.
