Maybury State Park is located just west of downtown Northville housing a working farm featuring animals, seed displays and crops. The 944-acre park is well maintained with both modern and primitive facilities. Miles of multi-use trails attract a variety of year-round users. Nearby shops and restaurants make for a memorable visit.

Maybury State Park offers an extensive trail system for hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. There are 4 miles of paved bike path, 6 miles of foot trail, 11 miles for horseback riding and 10 for cross-country skiing. The marked trails are of varying difficulty.

The park has had an active mountain bike club since the mid-1990s. Biking began in the park in the late 80s and with the added help from the club, additions and enhancements to the trails have been very successful. A 4-mile loop is perfect for beginners and novice riders offering a fast segment and a slow and technical segment. Continuing to the Hines North trails provides a lengthier loop ride. Water, bug repellent and sun screen are recommended. Trails are closed each year from mid-December to April.

The park's working farm is a wonderful place for visitors of all ages. A petting area includes farm animals such as horses, rabbits and chickens. Demonstrations are scheduled throughout the year. Favorites include sheep shearing, honey extracting, and maple syruping. Call the park for a list of scheduled events and guided tours.

The park features several sport fields with adjacent picnic areas with shelters. Picnic shelters are named for the park's native hardwoods. Shelters may be reserved through the park office: 248-349-8390. Drinking water and children's playground are centrally located.

Equestrians enjoy their own area of the park. Their entrance is located off Beck Road where the staging and stable area is located. Horse trails explore 11 miles of trail. Horse rentals are available, phone 248-347-1088.

Bike rentals and cross-county ski rentals are available as well. Call 248-348-1190 for details.

A day camp building is available by reservation only. The building is in a remote setting offering flush toilets, fireplace, counters, table and storage. A rustic group campground is offered to organizations. Phone the park office for details.

Activities on Maybury State Park include viewing a working farm, picnicking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. Horse rentals available. Group camping available. No swimming or family campground offered.

Southeast Michigan is the warmest region in the state with summer temperatures averaging 70 degrees F (above 21 degrees C) but it is not infrequent for days to reach the high 80s. Winter temperatures are warmer as well with averages hovering just below freezing. Yearly moisture amounts range between 18 - 32 inches.
