From Blue Ridge Parkway, NC, 10 miles north of Soco Gap on Balsam Mountain Road (closed in winter), off the Blue Ridge Parkway around Milepost 458. Take the road to the very end and begin on Palmer Creek Trail. It ends at Pretty Hollow Gap Trail which you will want to turn right and dip down to connect with Little Cataloochee Trail carrying it to Long Bunk Trail.
Location Information
The Long Bunk Trail is a fairly short trail traveling between Little Cataloochee and Mount Sterling Gap Trails. It travels past several early settlements which were part of Little Cataloochee. This trail at one time was called Pig Pen Trail for the pig pen which marked the terminus. The trail crosses several creeks as it passes through a poplar forest.
