From Fontana Lake,, On the western side of the lake, take Western Shoreline Trail to Pinnacle Creek Trail to Sugar Fork Trail and finally onto Hazel Creek Trail.
Location Information
The Hazel Creek Trail offers wonderful fishing opportunities in addition to the scenery and backcountry camping. The trail has an elevation change of approximately 3,200 feet within a 16.5 mile distance. The area has an interesting logging history being the site of an old sawmill and logging camp. The trail is part of the network of trails located north of Fontana Lake. If approaching from Welch Ridge, look closely for the trail markers.
