Location Information
The North Country Trail (NCT) is a National Scenic Trail which when completed will extend across seven states from New York to North Dakota. Today, 1,700 of the 4,000-mile route are completed. On the Huron-Manistee National Forest, the trail passes through a wide variety of vegetation types. Blue diamond blazes designate the NCT, as well as posts with NCT stickers at road crossings. Topography varies from flat to rolling ridges while offering splendid views of the Hodenpyl Pond, Manistee River valley and the Udell Hills (spring and fall). Camping is permitted 200 feet off the trail in addition to primitive camping at Sawdust Hole, near the Dilling Road Access. This is a carry-in / carry-out trail. Developed campsites are located south of Sawdust Hole. A developed campground, Seaton Creek Campground, is located near the Marilla Trailhead. Potable water is available at Seaton Creek Campground. Mountain bikes are not permitted in the section west of Dilling Road. From Marilla Trailhead to Red Bridge, the trail distance is 10 miles over technical and steep terrain. Between Red Bridge and Dilling, the distance is just shy of 6 miles and considered technical. Note: A vehicle pass is required from April 1 to November 1. Passes may be purchased for $30 (household), $20 (annual), $5 (weekly), or $3 (daily). Golden Age Passport and Access holders may purchase annual passes for 50% of the regular price.
