Location Information
Located on the shores of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, Letney provides a primitive camping experience. The area is open by reservation only for groups of less than 75 persons. For reservations, call 936/639-8620. The area is popular with horseback riders due to nearby trails. There is a gate which can be locked if you bring your own combination lock. The area has limited facilities. Users must bring drinking water and supply sanitary facilities through self-contained trailers or rental of port-a-potties. Letney reservations fill up quickly, so you must call early in the year if you want to reserve it for a weekend. During the week the area does not receive heavy use. In consideration of other visitors, no off-road vehicles may be ridden in the campground. Visitors should note that consuming alcohol or using glass containers is restricted to the immediate campsite (such as tent or trailer). Also the area near the cliffs is off limits due to hazardous drop-off. No drinking water is available. Day-use parking is free. The parking area is open for day users. Horseback riders may park their trailers, but please do not block roads or gates. Campground regulations, reservation instructions and emergency phone numbers are posted at the entrance.
