From Carbondale, From Carbondale travel east on Hwy. 82 to Basalt. Turn left into downtown Basalt and follow the Fryingpan River Road about 27 miles (past Ruedi Reservoir) to Road #501 (North Fork), turning left towards Elk Wallow Campground. Approximately 4 miles take the left fork road onto road #506. When road #506(Burnt Mt.. Road) crosses the first stream about 5 miles down road #506, the trailhead is on the upstream side of the road.
Location Information
The trail crosses Last Chance Creek near the beginning and then is an easy walk through meadows most of the way. It ends at the junction with Tellurium Lake trail. From here you can hike to either Tellurium Lake, Josephine Lake or Henderson Park.
