From Homestead, FL, Travel west several miles on County Road 9336. The trailhead is located seven miles from the main park entrance (Main Park Road).
Location Information
The Pineland Trail is located about seven miles from the main park entrance. It offers examples of a lush Caribbean pine forest, native to the Everglades. The pines are abundant on the keys, which are comprised of limestone reaching above the water's surface. Within the forest, you'll also see saw palmettos and wildflowers. This trail is one of the highest areas with the national park, three to seven feet above sea level. Eventually, these pines will become a part of the hammock. Notice the evidence from Hurricane Andrew. This trail is handicapped accessible, however, the protruding roots along the paved path can make passage difficult.
