From Altoona, FL, Travel west along State Highway 42 about 10 miles.
Location Information
Big Bass Recreation Area is one of Ocala's seasonal sites. It is located along the southwestern edge of the forest along State Highway 42. The campground closes May 1st and reopens October 1st. There are 34 sites, costing $6 per night. A trailer dump station is provided free of charge for campers. A $2 non-camper fee is assessed. The campground does have fresh drinking water, warm showers, and a pay telephone.

Note: Despite the area's name, there is no fishing access.
