Location Information
Hopkins Prairie is a relatively undeveloped area offering only campsites, cartop boat launch, canoeing and fishing opportunities. The fee for camping is $5 per night. Day use parking fee is $4. A nice feature about this recreation area is that it provides access to the Florida National Scenic Trail, which stretches throughout Ocala National Forest for 66 miles. Depending on rainfall, finding a good fishing area can be hit or miss. However, the area is generally clear with shallow interconnected waterways abundant with floating aquatic vegetation. These very popular fishing lakes have produced many trophy largemouth bass. Fishing from small power boats and canoes is popular. Shoreline fishing can prove successful, especially in remote areas.
