Location Information
Located in the middle of Ocala National Forest, Salt Springs Run Marina and Landing is where the crystal clear water gushes from Salt Springs and flows about 5 miles before discharging into Lake George. You will enjoy cruising the run and seeing the abundant wildlife and the many species of birds along the way.

Salt Springs Run and the surrounding waters - Lake George and the St. Johns River - offer boaters a wide variety of activities for the outdoor person and family. Activities such as fishing, swimming, snorkeling, camping and sightseeing are all available from the landing, from your own boat, or one of the rental canoes, rowboats, powerskiffs or family pontoon boats which accommodate up to 12 passengers. Reservations are advised, so call in advance. Large powerboats will have problems in the shallower waters.

Wildlife is abundant in the forest and can often be seen near the run. White-tailed deer and raccoons oftentimes bring their young to drink the pristine waters from Salt Springs Run. A wide variety of turtles pop their heads out of the water or lie on branches to dry out their shells. Otters can be seen swimming and playing in the grasses. Alligators of all sizes live along the run and can be seen.

Fishing is a popular sport in Salt Springs Run and the nearby waterways. You can expect to catch largemouth bass, striped bass, and a variety of pan fish, catfish, blue crab and more.

Bird watching is prime along the run. Great blue herons, yellow-headed night herons, egrets, coots, and other water birds are seen wading along the shore in search of food. Osprey swoop down for fish to bring to their young in the nests scattered at the tree line along the run. You will also see kingfishers, cormorants, and anhinga sunning at the waters edge and atop posted signs. Bald eagles, red-shouldered hawks, red-tailed hawks, kites and many other birds can also be seen along the run.

The marina and landing is a recreation area within itself. Here you will find hiking trails, a swimming area, fishing guide services, sightseeing tours of the run and surrounding waterways, along with overnight and weekly accommodations. Fishing licenses, live bait, tackle, snacks, T-shirts, bug repellent, sunscreen and more may be purchased. Call 352-685-2255 for details. Or write Salt Springs Run Marina & Landing, 25711 N.E. 134th Place, Salt Springs, FL 32134
