From Blue River, Travel 3.5 miles east on Hwy. 126 to Aufderheide Road (FS road 19). Continue on Aufderheide Drive for 3 miles to Cougar Dam. At the dam turn left onto Rd. 1993 for 14 miles to Pat Saddle Trailhead on the right.
Location Information
Olallie South Trail #3529.04 is a more difficult 12.2 mile hike at an elevation of 5,200 feet. Following this trail to the south, there are many connecting trails that lead deeper into the Three Sisters Wilderness Area. There are many points of interest along the way. Follow the trail north you may choose to stay overnight in the Potholes area, a desirable camp spot. A marked side trail leaves Olallie Trail not far from Lamb Butte. The trail winds down the north ridge slope to Potholes. Of special interest on the trail is the Olallie Ridge Natural Research Area. This research area was established in 1963 to provide and opportunity for scientific study of plant successional changes.
